General Session - HP IT Transformation: Why transformation is different than consolidation? |
Speaker: Randy Baklini, Enterprise Architect, HP
HP's business is large, complex, and fast moving. HP's internal IT transformation initiative, dubbed "The Business of IT" is an interesting strategy with learnings applicable to midsize business . The ultimate goal for HP's internal IT transformation was founded on economics and to reduce the maintenance expenditure so the company has more money to spend on innovation. HP managed lots of legacy apps and servers in its environment and much effort was spent on supporting these legacy systems.

In a Web 2.0 world, executive branding has become even more important and a valuable tool for IT executives. Networks for Midsize Businesses: Smart, Virtual, and Always-On
Business communications systems are not merely evolving, they are being fundamentally reworked. New demands will require new strategies. Video, mobility, unified communications, virtualization, and cloud computing will require us to rethink how networks are designed, how they are built, and how they are run. Emerging technologies present new opportunities for midsized businesses, but there are risks as well. Meanwhile, the vendor landscape has transformed radically. Leading this change requires foresight; merely reacting is not enough. This presentation will address:•How will the demands on midsize enterprise networks change in the coming years? •What are the key strategies for meeting new requirements? •What are the most critical emerging technologies? Speaker: David Willis, Gartner

Business Driven Project Portfolio Management - Top 10 Risks That Threaten Success
Speaker: Mark Perry, Ganntthead Project Portfolio Management (PPM) is the management of prioritized projects, programs, and portfolios within an organization. In essence, project portfolio management is the bridge between projects and business. While the concepts of project portfolio management as a knowledge standard are easy to grasp and relatively straight forward, the actual implementation of project portfolio management within an organization is not and and it is not a one-shoe-fits-all-sizes proposition. This presentation provides a business-driven approach to project portfolio management that features a short case example followed by a lit and discussion of the top ten risks that threaten the successful implementation and adoption of project portfolio management.
